MP CONGRESS Committee (minority cell) today criticised Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad for his attempts to get a pardon for Mohammed Afzal Guru, prime accused in attack on Parliament, who has been awarded death sentence.
Cell vice president Akhtar Baig in a press release issued here today charged that Azad seems to be acting like an agent of ISI.
He said Azad’s appeal has confused the Congress activists, and Congress president Sonia Gandhi should clarify party’s stand on terrorism.
Baig further said that terrorists like Md Afzal should be hanged in front of the Parliament in full public view to send a clear message to the world. He said showing mercy on terrorists has proved dear to India in the past and such mistakes should not be repeated.
Baig has written a letter to President Abdul Kalam appealing him not to grant pardon to Afzal.
