THE MADHYA Pradesh Karate Association (MPKA) has expected good performance from the State players in the 33rd National Games, Guwahati. For the first time karate has been included in the National Games that began on Friday.
In a press statement issued on Friday, MPKA president Dr Mahendra Singh Chauhan said that State players have been performing well at the national and international levels.
“The good performance of the players could be gauged from the fact that the State won the National Karate Championship”, said Chauhan.
MP is the only state in the country that has qualified for all events of karate, Chauhan claimed.
A camp was organised for the selected players at Tatya Tope Stadium.
Apart from the players, MPKA office-bearers would also register presence in the National Games.
Madhya Pradesh Karate Association (MPKA) technical director Surendra Singh will be the referee in the National Games.
Ratan Gambhir will be the women team’s coach. Jaidev Sharma and Raju Gupta have been appointed men’s team coach and manager.
The 22-member squad will leave for Guwahati on Saturday. Dr Chauhan, vice-president Hirendra Bahadur Singh, Ramayan Pratap Singh, treasurer P G V Nair and others extended their good wishes to the players.
