The All-India Muslim Forum has asked the Samajwadi Party (SP) general secretary and Member of Parliament Beni Prasad Verma to reveal the names of the ‘beneficiaries’ whom State Labour Minister Waqar Ahmad Shah had allegedly ‘obliged’.
President of the Forum, Nehaluddin was referring to the allegations by Verma that Waqar was involved in supplying girls. Addressing mediapersons in Lucknow on Thursday, Nehaluddin alleged that the minister might have obliged his ‘superiors’ to be in the ministry. He said it was unfortunate that the “types of Waqar” had sneaked into Indian politics. The president of the forum also questioned as to why Verma kept quiet for so long when he knew about Waqar.
About the inquiry ordered into the allegations by the Chief Minister, he said it was an eyewash. The CM should first remove Waqar from the ministerial post and then initiate an inquiry, preferably judicial, so that the facts reach people, the forum president said.
Speaking about the situation in Gorakhpur and other parts of eastern UP, Nehaluddin said violence would spread further if it was not controlled immediately. He accused the BJP MP Yogi Adityanath of trying to replicate Gujarat and said his arrest would be an excuse for some anti-socials to train their guns on Muslims.
He said in the run-up to the Assembly election, one can easily understand the tacit nexus between the BJP and Mulayam Singh Yadav. Both the SP and BJP were complementary to each other, he added.
