Muzaffarnagar riots

Addressing his first rally in the region after the Muzaffarnagar riots, Samajwadi party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav cited examples of a few revered Hindu and Muslim leaders who promulgated the message of peace and harmony.

After inaugurating Sheikh UL Hind Maulanan Mehmood Hasan Medical College, the SP chief shared the dais with Syed Arsad madni, head of Jamiat Ulem-e-Hind, reminding people that Maulana Hasan was a great freedom fighter. “His theory was not to hurt feelings of anyone by their act and deeds,” he said and appealed the crowd to follow Maulana’s message.

Counting on free education, medicine and treatment being provided to people of UP during the SP rule, he came down heavily on Modi asking ‘whether he has given similar facilities to the people Gujarat?’ He also blamed Modi for snatching land of Sikhs in Gujarat advising the saffron leader ‘they (Sikh) are brave hence don’t create trouble for them’. He charged BJP with unleashing atrocities against Sikhs in tarai region of the state which was stopped only when he stood-up in their support and raised his voice.
