Mumbai clueless against Bhopal

BHOPAL WON the inaugural match crushing Mumbai by a huge margin of 14-0 in the All-India Inter-SAI Hockey Tournament that began at SAI Centre, Bishenkheri on Wednesday. In the other matches, Sonipat, Danapur and Eastern Region registered comfortable win.

In the first match, the Bhopal trio of Shashikant, Vivek and Ezaz tormented their opponents right from the beginning. Such was the ruthless performance of these players that the opponent goalkeeper even failed to stand against their strong hits on a number of occasions.

Shashikant was the top scorer of the match with three goals. Vivek and Ezaz scored two goals each. In the second match, Sonipat defeated North East Region 5-1 while Danapur trounced Patiala 6-1.

In the last match, Eastern Region defeated Bangalore 3-1. Earlier, international player Feroz Khan inaugurated the tournament. SAI Central Region director in-charge AK Sharma and others were present.
