Mumbai Crime Branch arrests 2 bookies, probe D-Company links

The Mumbai Crime Branch which is probing the money transfer system of the bookies, and their links to Dawood Ibrahim’s D-Company, arrested two more bookies in the ongoing spot fixing scandal in the T20 league from Pune today. HT reports.

The Mumbai Crime Branch which is probing the money transfer system of the bookies, and their links to Dawood Ibrahim’s D-Company, arrested two more bookies in the ongoing spot fixing scandal in the T20 league from Pune on Monday.

Dinesh Sharma and Kishore Pablani were arrested after their links to Ramesh Vyas surfaced during interrogation. Both the bookies were produced before a court which remanded them to police custody till June 1.

Crime branch in their remand application said that 92 phone connections were recovered from Ramesh Vyas in the raid conducted on May 14.

Of the 92, 30 phones were connected to Pakistan. Two phone connections of the 30 were diverted to Sharma and Pablani who were in touch with a top bookie named Kishor Pune.

Crime branch sources said all the bookies are linked to Shobhan Mehta alias Shobhan Kalachowkie, one of the top bookies operating out of Mumbai and has connections with the D-Company.

The Crime branch said that they have so far recovered one phone by have to recover four more phones, which were used by these accused and further they also want to search the whereabouts of the absconding bookies Kishore Pune, who was in touch with Ramesh Vyas.

Crime branch has stated that the bookies had a complex network, and were also connected to wanted bookie Jupiter. We want to investigate about how these bookies used to deal with the bookies from Pakistan and how money was transferred, said crime branch sources.
