A team of Mumbai police arrived in Harda to probe the attack on Samajwadi Janparishad's vice-president and social activist Shamim Modi in Navi Mumbai's Vashi area on July 23.

Modi was attacked by a security guard, Rakesh Nepali of a society in Vashi area where she was residing in a flat, police sources said.

The Mumbai police team, led by Sub-Inspector K D Kolhe arrived in Harda and collected past record of Shamim, her husband Anurag Modi, local BJP MLA and former Minister Kamal Patel and businessman Natwar Patel from the police station.

Since Kamal Patel and Natwar Patel were out of station, the team was unable to record their statement on the issue, police said.

Modi was brutally attacked by Nepali on July 23 in her Vashi flat following which her neighbours rushed her in a serious condition to a private hospital.

In her statement to the police at that time she suspected the hand of Kamal Patel and Natwar Patel behind the attack following which the police team from Mumbai arrived in Harda to probe the incident.
