Since 30 years, the villagers of Naya Basti and Gat village in Munsyari tehsil of Pithoragarh are waiting for rehabilitation. During election period, politicians promise help, but no one has ever taken care of the deserted lot.

According to the villagers, more than 64 villages are affected by natural disaster. But, neither the administration nor the politicians have extended a helping hand towards them. Pushkar Singh, a resident of Gat village said, "Several families have been affected due to natural disaster. But neither the leaders nor the district administration took steps to rehabilitate the affected people. As a result, there is massive disappointment among the villagers." He said that disaster affected villages like Nachani, Baram, La-Jhakela and several others were still waiting for help.

In fact, these villages did not even have basic amenities villagers led a very difficult life, he added.

Villagers are infuriated with the leaders who visit them during elections but haven't done anything for their betterment. Hayat Singh Rana of La-Jhakela said, "We are only vote banks for leaders. Hit by natural disaster, we all need resettlement with basic amenities."
