Photographer Salil Kawli’s first solo exhibition, Through My Eye is an ode to nature. An avid traveller and nature lover, Kawli has put together 85 pictures clicked over a span of seven years. “I want people to know how beautiful their environment is. I hope my photographs show them why they need to protect it,” he says.
Over the last 13 years, Kawli has trekked to lesser-known areas in India to examine flora and fauna. He has even entered jungles to observe rare species of insects. His frequent trips have resulted in an expansive collection of over one lakh pictures. “The idea is to capture on camera what would go unnoticed in our day-to-day lives,” he explains.
Having travelled in and around Mumbai to put together this exhibition, he recommends three eco-getaways for nature lovers.
Murud Beach at Dapoli : It is a 250-kilometer drive from Mumbai. The beaches are beautiful and there is a small fort in the middle of the sea, which can be reached by boat.
Jawahar, near Nashik: Those who love the monsoons will enjoy visiting this place, which is 180 kilometers from Mumbai.
Kaas Plateau, near Satara: About 250 kilometers from Mumbai, this plateau is also known as ‘Valley of Flowers’. Between September and November, thousands of varieties of wild flowers are in bloom.
