Muslims in Kerala today celebrated Id-ul-Fitr, marking the end of holy month Ramadan. The faithful in large numbers congregated in mosques across the state for namaz. Addressing the gathering, religious scholars called upon the faithful to rededicate themselves to values like love and compassion.
In Kozhikode, the cultural heartland of Muslims, prayers were held in mosques as heavy rains prevented the namaz planned to be held outdoors. Kerala Governor R S Gavai, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan greeted the people on the occasion.
