THE MEMBERS of the Muslim community staged a demonstration at Beniabagh Park on Saturday in support of their demand to allow 25 per cent reservation for children of Muslims in Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) (Central Schools) across the country.

Former corporator, Mohd. Shahid Ali Khan alias Munna, Mohd. Arshad and Rubi Khan led the agitation and demanded from the Union Government to ensure a 25 per cent reservation for the kids of Muslims in Central Government funded Kendriya Vidyalayas.

Mohd. Shahid Ali alleged the kids of minority community were deliberately denied admission in Kendriya Vidyalayas and, therefore, the need of the hour was to earmark 25 per cent reservation in KV for the uplift of minority community.

He alleged the kids of the minority community were denied admission in these schools under a well-planned conspiracy, therefore, the Union Human Resource Development Minister, Arjun Singh should direct principals of Kendriya Vidyalayas to allow the reservation.

A charter of demands has been forwarded to the President, Union HRD Minister and Chairman of Minority Commission to investigate the cause of why fewer kids are being admitted to schools.
