Taking serious note of reported threats by underground activists to top bureaucrats and head of special investigation team (SIT) of Vigilance department, the Nagaland government has asked the probing team to carry out the task entrusted on it without any fear.
The state cabinet at a meeting held here yesterday asserted that the government cannot be cowed down by such threats and asked the SIT to carry out the task of investigation into appointment of a large number of bogus teachers in the school education department and assured all the back up and support in this regard, official sources said.
The state government had constituted the SIT under Vigilance and Anti-Corruption wing to investigate into various anomalies and irregularities in the appointment of bogus teachers during the period 2007-08 and 2008-09 in the state.
Some leaders of underground groups had reportedly warned against the probe and threatened the Chief Secretary, the Additional Chief Secretary and Commissioner of School Education and DIG (Vigilance) with 'dire consequences.'
The SIT is slated to investigate the modus operandi of the bogus appointments through fraudulent means or through misinformation with the motive to appoint candidates for unvailable posts.
