Nagpur teacher held for molesting 9 girls

The Nagpur police on Wednesday evening arrested a municipal corporation school teacher for sexually assaulting nine students for the last two months. HT reports.

The Nagpur police on Wednesday evening arrested a municipal corporation school teacher for sexually assaulting nine students for the last two months.

Nine girl students of local Sanjay Nagar Hindi Madhyamik Shala told the police that Pradip Gupta, a high school teacher had been sexually harassing them for the last few months couple.

All the complainants are from ninth standard. It was said that Gupta used to summon the students to the staff room or veranda on the pretext of correcting their home works and molest them.

Most of the girls, who lodged the joint complaint with the local police, said that the teacher had threatened to fail them in the examination in case they exposed his acts.

Since the girls could not dare to report the matter, but finally when they informed their parents who in turn confided the heinous incident to activists of Bajrang Dal and Shiv Sena.

The activists of Sena and Bajrang Dal later approached the local police and school authorities which led to the arrest of the teacher.

However, Gupta denied the charge and claimed to have been framed in the case for pulling up the girls about the quality of their homeworks assignments.

The municipal corporation authorities already suspended the teacher and served a show cause notice to the head master of the school, Waman Moon for delaying action against the teacher.

The additional commissioner of NMC, Hemant Pawar also asked for an explanation from the officials of education department of civic body -- the education officer, Ashok Talatule and Assistant Education Officer, Malti Sharma.
