Naman, Sachin guide Indore into semis

THANKS TO a hurricane century by Naman Ojha (110) and classic 75 by Sachin Dholpure, Indore entered the last four beating Raipur in the Master Builders inter-divisional one-day tournament being played at the Usha Raje cricket grounds on Monday.

Raipur skipper T Sudhindra won the toss and put Indore division in to bat first. Initially, his decision proved to be correct as Indore lost the first wicket at the score of nine runs. Amit Pal was dismissed cheaply for seven runs.

Sachin joined Naman and both started blasting the opponent bowlers mercilessly. They scored runs at will. Both added 147 runs for the second wicket when Sachin Dholpure was back in the pavilion after scoring a brisk 75 in 66 balls with nine boundaries.

At the other end Naman Ojha completed his brilliant century (120 balls) with nine hits to the fence and one over the fence. After adding ten more runs to his century, he was back in the dressing room.

Shadab Khan, who hit brilliant double tonnes against Raipur division in the three-day match, showed his class and scored an unbeaten 54 in 44 balls with four boundaries while Rahul Bhakshi scored 35 in 40 balls with four boundaries.

Kumar Singh two wickets for 47 of 10 overs and rest of the bowlers failed to restrict the Indore batsmen. Chasing the huge target of 285, Raipur batsmen failed to stay at the wicket and were losing wickets at regular intervals.

Abhishek Jain batted well and scored 50 in 68 balls with seven boundaries and one six. However, Ambalal Patidar had the last laugh when he clean bowled Abhishek.

Mohatseem Hasan also batted well but he did not get any support from the other end. He scored 57 runs in 85 balls with eight boundaries while tail ender Anish Rathore scored a brisk 22 in 37 balls with three boundaries. Raipur were all out for 215 runs in 48.4 overs.

Anand Rajan, Ambalal Patidar,Jitendra Likhar and Amit Pal captured two wickets each. In the semifinal, Indore will meet Bilaspur on Tuesday.

Jabalpur in last four
JABALPUR SAILED into the semifinal beating hosts Rewa. The match was played at the University ground in Rewa. Batting first, Jabalpur suffered initial hick ups, but later consolidated their innings.

Shashank Singh and Jubin John frustrated the host bowlers and took the score from 31/2 to 145. Both added 114 runs for the third wicket. Shashank scored a patient 30, while Jubin Johan scored 76 runs. Both the batsmen helped their team score 226/8.

Manjeet Singh took four wickets. It was a do or die match for Rewa as they had already lost their first match against Ujjain.

Rewa batsmen started blasting from the word go. Ranji player Mohnish Mishra started blasting opponent bowlers and blasted 34 in 22 balls with two huge sixes and four boundaries. After the fall of Rewa skipper, the other batsmen started following him at regular intervals.

Vinay Singh scored 31 runs. Ishwar Pandey scored 27 runs with two sixes and three boundaries but could not save his team from the jaws of defeat. Mayank Jain took two wickets, while Ajay Rajput took two wickets and Vikram Jansari took two wickets. 

Jubin John won the ‘man of the match’ award and a cash prize of Rs 1000. In the other pool, State Bank of Indore, Bhopal and Sagar division will fight for the last four positions on Tuesday at Rewa.
