NAMDHARI XI and SAI Centre of Excellence sailed into the semifinals of the All India Ahmad Sher Khan Hockey Tournament being organised at SAI Centre Bishenkheri on Wednesday.

In the first match, SAI team put up a fine game to register a 3-0 one-sided win against Karampura XI of Uttar Pradesh. The hosts dominated the match from the word go. The score could have been better if the team had converted some close opportunities.

After losing some close opportunities, Bhopal opened the account in the 15th minute. Forward Ravi netted the ball through a beautiful field goal. Although the Karampura team counter attacked the strong defence foiled their moves. In the meantime, Asif consolidated the score by scoring second goal of the match. First half ended with the score 2-0.

After taking the 2-0 lead, the Bhopal team opted for a defensive strategy. The UP team too demonstrated a slow game. However, Fahim managed to score one more goal in the last part of the match.

Namdhari XI scored the highest win of the tournament in the second match. Playing against a weak Chhattisgarh team, the players of Namdhari found no problem in scoring goals. Almost every forward player of the team scored a goal. Namdhari won the match 18-00. Gurvir scored highest three goals.
