Nandi told to improve mid-day meal quality

DISTRICT COLLECTOR S K Mishra today directed the Nandi Foundation, which prepares food for mid-day meal scheme, to improve the quality of food. He also told the schools to set time for mid-day meal distribution in accordance with the recess in schools.

DISTRICT COLLECTOR S K Mishra today directed the Nandi Foundation, which prepares food for mid-day meal scheme, to improve the quality of food. He also told the schools to set time for mid-day meal distribution in accordance with the recess in schools.

Besides, the schools were also told to involve parents in the process of quality check of mid-day meals. Mishra, who chaired a meeting to review the functioning of Education Department in the district, said that the students should be given hot mid-day meal.

Therefore, the time of mid-day meal distribution should be adjusted according to recess in schools. The Nandi Foundation representatives were told keep containers at the schools so that the hot meal could be given to the students.
It was also informed that the State Government has increased the mid-day meal cost from Rs 1.56 to Rs 2 per student, and the students should be given two vegetables and chapattis on alternate days.

In Bhopal, Nandi Foundation has set up a kitchen at Khajuri Kalan providing mid-day meal to 301 schools and madarsas of the City.

It was complained that the schools are not providing the data of attendance in the schools so that the mid-day meal could be provided accordingly.

The district Collector directed the officials to improve the attendance in the schools. Mishra also directed to remove encroachments around the schools. He told the Bhopal Municipal Corporation to remove the encroachments around Karod High School by Monday.

Mishra directed the district education officer to repair the schools and install doors and toilets at all the schools.
He directed the DEO that the names of Parent-Teacher Association members on board. The Chief Executive Officer of district panchayat, Ashish Saxena was also present in the meeting.
