A special court on Tuesday extended till May 7 the judicial custody of suspected mining mafia member Manoj Gurjar, who is an accused in the murder of IPS officer Narendra Kumar Singh in Madhya Pradesh's Morena district.

Gurjar was today produced before the special CBI judge Dr Shubrha Singh who extended his judicial remand till May 7 as sought by the CBI.

Gurjar allegedly mowed down 32-year-old Singh, who was posted as sub divisional officer of police (SDOP) at Barmore town, on March 8 when he tried to intercept a tractor-trolley, laden with illegally mined stones. The tractor was allegedly being driven by Gurjar.

The investigation was handed over to CBI after the slain officer's IAS wife Madhurani sought a probe by the central agency into her husband's murder.
