Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the 131st 'rathyatra' of Lord Jagannath in Ahmadabad on Friday.
Rath Yatra in city is one of the oldest in Gujarat and begins from Jamalpur. There are three separate chariots for the idols of Krishna, Balram and their sister Subhadra and all the three chariots bears strong resemblance.
The main chariots are closely followed by colorfully adorned elephants, trucks, motor vehicles, acrobats and gymnasts.
This year 'rathyatra' procession will include 16 elephants, 98 trucks, 30 akhadas (local gyms),18 Bhajan mandlis and music bands.
According to the trustee of Shree Jagannath Temple, Mahendra Jha, this year they have invited tribal flok dancers from Dangs district to participate in the event.
More than 35,000 kg of 'prasad' has been prepared for distrubution among devotees on the auspious day, Jha said.
Adequate security arrangements have been made by the state government for the event, he said.
