Narendran makes it 7 on 7 at Irungattukottai race track

On the face of it, it comes across as anomaly - designed purely for the pleasure of the spectator, at the expense of the driver who has earned the right to start at the head of the field.
Scratch the surface, though, and it’s not hard to figure out why reverse grid racing — or, at least a partial form of it — is is employed in most circuit racing around the globe, except those involving a single race over a large number of laps (think F1 or IndyCar).
While one-hit wonders aren’t infrequent, they usually can’t last the weekend; a genuinely good driver, though, will never shy away from the challenge. And, of course, the viewers get their share of entertainment. At the Irungattukottai race track on Saturday, S Narendran gave the gathering plenty to cheer about.
Prior to the fourth round of the MMSC FMSCI National Racing Championship, Narendran was undefeated after five races. By the end of Saturday, he had made it seven out of seven - this after winning the first race from third on the grid, and then the second after starting fourth thanks to the partial reverse grid. It would have been eight on eight, had it not been for a “red flag situation” in the first race.
