Narmada sailing expedition concludes

THE NARMADA Sailing Expedition of the 1 MP Naval unit of Bhopal Group NCC concluded recently and the 40 participating cadets of senior division/senior wing were welcomed at the Sethani Ghat, Hoshanganad in the presence of deputy director general of NCC Directorate, MP and Chhattisgarh, Brigadier Deepak Sud.

THE NARMADA Sailing Expedition of the 1 MP Naval unit of Bhopal Group NCC concluded recently and the 40 participating cadets of senior division/senior wing were welcomed at the Sethani Ghat, Hoshanganad in the presence of deputy director general of NCC Directorate, MP and Chhattisgarh, Brigadier Deepak Sud.

The expedition had started from Bijna Ghat (near Bhedaghat) in Jabalpur on October 11 and the cadets traversed a distance of 517 km during which they encountered and negotiated a number of rough patches/rapids over River Narmada successfully.

Speaking at the concluding ceremony, Brigadier Sud praised the efforts of the cadets and said that the youth organisation has tremendous potential to transform the society and nation.

Two sailboats, two assault boats and one motorboat (safety boat) formed the part of expedition. During course of the 10-day expedition, the cadets also spread awareness on various issues like female foeticide, ecological preservation, AIDS, child and adult education, anti-dowry and anti-drug campaign. During the halts, the cadets organised lectures and skits to spread awareness in rural areas.

The function at Sethani Ghat on Friday also marked the formal culmination of `Narmada to Nubra’ car rally, symbolized by immersion of Nubra and Indus water into Narmada.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had flagged off the 20-day car rally comprising of 35 senior division boys and 15 senior wing girls of MP and Chhattisgarh Directorate on August 15. The car rally went up till Leh and concluded at Raipur on September 3. During this rally too the cadets spread awareness on social issues.
