At least 10 athletes and three police constables were injured when their bus overturned on its way to the Games Village.

At least 10 athletes and three police constables were injured when their bus overturned on its way to the Games Village during the 33rd National Games in Guwahati on Sunday.

One of the players is said to have sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to the Guwahati Neurological Centre. The others were taken to Guwahati Medical College and Downtown Hospital.

The players representing Andhra Pradesh and the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) were on their way to the Games Village from the Sarusujai Sports Complex to have their lunch when the accident occurred.

"The players were on their way to have lunch but their bus hit the road divider and turned upside down. One of the athletes is critically injured and has been admitted to Guwahati Neurological Centre.

Three police constables, who were escorting the players also received injuries," said Randeep Kumar Barua, superintendent of police (city traffic).
