National hockey camp for U-18 boys begins

THE NATIONAL hockey camp of under-18 boys, organised at Sports Authority of India (SAI) Centre Bishenkheri here, started on Monday.

THE NATIONAL hockey camp of under-18 boys, organised at Sports Authority of India (SAI) Centre Bishenkheri here, started on Monday.

According to an SAI press release, 44 boys from across the country are participating in the camp. These were short-listed from the 180 players picked up from various centres. This is the third camp. The earlier camps were organised at Chandigarh and Lucknow.

A team that was selected from the 44 players recently participated in the four-nation hockey tournament at Singapore and stood second.

The team will participate All-India MCC Cup Invitation Tournament to be played in Chennai from December 17. Afterwards, the team will play some matches abroad. R S Pathania and Ripudaman Singh are the chief and assistant coach respectively of the camp.
