National shooting ends, Army tops with 34 medals

THE ARMY team stood first in the 50th National Shooting Championship (rifle and pistol events) that concluded on Friday. The Army team won 34 medals followed by Maharashtra team with 16 medals and Indian Airlines with 12. A total of 228 medals were given in the tournament.

THE ARMY team stood first in the 50th National Shooting Championship (rifle and pistol events) that concluded on Friday. The Army team won 34 medals followed by Maharashtra team with 16 medals and Indian Airlines with 12. A total of 228 medals were given in the tournament.

In the individual men’s category, Army’s Vijay Kumar stood first winning four medals. He was followed by Army’s Pema Tamang, Navy’s Sanjeev Rajput, and Indian Airlines’ Zakir Khan, who jointly held the second position with three medals apiece.

In the individual women’s category, Harveen Sarav of Punjab stood first bagging four medals while Tejaswani Sawant of Maharasthra and Shweta Chaudhary of IA stood second bagging three medals apiece.

MLA Usha Thakur was the chief guest at the function. CSWT DIG and Commandant Mohindar Lal, Additional DIG D K Pande, Commandant (VTC) Rajiv Bhatia and others were present on the occasion.
