On the occasion of Teachers' Day, a nation-wide campaign 'Save Our Spine' will be launched in the city on Saturday.
Ranjini Krishnaswamy, Principal at suburban Chembur's St.Gregorios High School, will initiate a nationwide campaign to drum up awareness on Spine Health, pegged as one of the biggest casualties of the present-day teaching occupation.
The campaign will highlight the significance of preventive healthcare for the teaching fraternity.
It will also equip them to understand and identify spine disorders like neck pain, back pain, spinal tuberculosis, spinal fractures due to osteoporosis and spine deformities like Scoliosis among children.
The campaign will move across 150 other schools, targeting over 1,200 teachers in the country every year.
The campaign is supported by city-based GoodHealth Foundation, Dr Ram Chadda, Consultant Spine Surgeon at the city's Lilavati Hospital and Medtronic.
