The CITU would launch a nationwide strike in September, demanding implementation of the National Social Security act for the unorganised sector, according to all India General secretary of the Union, Dapan Shen.

The announcement of the strike would be made at a proposed seminar of all trade unions at Delhi on Jul 15, he told a public meeting here late last night he said.

He claimed that the 20 year 'struggle' of CITU had protected public sector units, banks and the insurance sector.

On the increase in prices of petroleum products, he said there was no link between international and domestic prices.

The international price was 78$, which translated to Rs 24.30 a litre. However it was being sold for about Rs 54. People were being forced to pay heavy taxes on it, he said.
