A Naval radio officer has been arrested for attacking the wife of his colleague with a knife in Mumbai, leaving her critically injured.

R A Chandran was arrested for attacking Anita Rawat, the wife of his friend Dharampal, at their official quarters on Saturday, police said on Monday.

Chandran had allegedly gone to Rawat's residence on Friday night and was involved in an argument with the latter.

"On Saturday, Chandran attacked her (Anita) with a knife while she was at home alone and stabbed her multiple times. She was injured critically and was taken to the Naval hospital where she is undergoing treatment," a police official said.

The Naval Police was called by local residents and they were able to nab Chandran.

The naval officer had also sustained injuries on his hand and was taken to the Naval Hospital INHS Asvini for further treatment, police said.
