The Cuffe Parade police on Thursday will record the statement of Anita Rawat (30), wife of officer Charanpal Ranvir Singh Rawat (39), who was stabbed by her husband’s colleague on Saturday.

She is recuperating in the ICU at the Navy’s Ashwini Hospital in Navy Nagar.

“Though Anita is out of danger, her condition has improved only marginally. She is in the ICU and is not in a position to talk. We still have to record her and her childrens statement. We have recorded Heena’s statement but I cannot reveal much,” said Vilas Bhole of Cuffe Parade police station.

As the hospital is located in the Navy cantonment area, even the police need permission from the local DCP to enter and contact Anita.

On Valentine’s Day, Navy radio operator R.A. Chandran stabbed his lover Anita 11 times after locking her inside the bathroom of her house at Old Navy Nagar in Cuffe Parade. Chandran had been a family friend of the Rawats.

Earlier, the police had recorded Chandran’s statement, wherein he confessed to having stabbed Anita after she allegedly refused to marry him. He alleged that Anita was having an affair with him since the past three years.
