Asking people not to celebrate the Independence Day, Naxals torched six trucks in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district.

The incident occurred on Dantewada road late last night when armed Naxals numbering 60 stopped Jagadalpur-bound trucks coming from Kirandool and threatened their drivers not to ply on the route, police said.

The Maoists forced the drivers out of the trucks and then torched the vehicles, they said adding the Naxals fled the spot immediately after the incident.

Police recovered Naxal literature from the spot asking the people not to celebrate Independence Day on Sunday.
