Non-bailable warrant was issued by a local court against bollywood star Suniel Shetty for not appearing before it in a cheque bounce case filed by a city-based shop owner.
The NBWs were issued by the court of Judicial Magistrate (first class) Manisha Jain on Tuesday on a complaint filed by shop owner Subash Gulati.
The NBWs issued by the local court are returnable for December 23.
In the complaint, Gulati had alleged that a cheque of Rs ten lakh issued by Hyundai India Telecom Limited (HITL), Chennai, was dishonoured by a bank due to insufficient amount in the account of the company. Shetty is one of the directors of the company.
In his petition filed in November, 2006 for setting aside the ongoing proceedings in the court, Shetty had denied any connection with HITL.
However, Gulati said that he had entered into an agreement to distribute mobile phone handsets manufactured by the HITL after attending a launch party in November, 2004 where Shetty along with other directors was present.
