Lashing out at the Congress party and National Conference (NC), former IGP and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Farooq Khan said the party and its coalition partner did injustice to the special police officers (SPO) and the village defence committee (VDC) members, who fought for the state.
While addressing series of election rallies in Bhalla, Charral and Udherana area of Doda district, Khan, who is the founder of VDC’s in erstwhile Doda district accused the Congress and the NC for exploiting them by not addressing their long pending demands and asked the people to vote for the BJP in order to teach the Congress party and National Conference a lesson.
Khan said SPO’s and VDC members worked selflessly but the government did nothing for their families, as they suffered because of very merge honorarium to SPO’s and the VDC members.
Khan said the government had rehabilitated the people involved in terrorism and others involved in anti-national activities, but unfortunately turned deaf ears towards their demands.
He said the SPO’s and the VDC members performed identical work like that of a regular police officers and so were entitled to be paid equal salary and allowances that was being given to regular police officers.
Khan added that he would work hard to address the problems of SPO’s and the VDC members, after the formation of the BJP led NDA at the Centre.
