Exuding confidence about victory of the NC-Congress coalition candidates in the ongoing parliamentary elections, senior National Conference leaders - Rattan Lal Gupta and Vijay Bakaya - on Sunday said politics of opportunism and deceit had been rejected by the people of the state.
“Your precious vote could herald peace and restore complete normalcy,” state vice-president of the party Rattan Lal Gupta told the migrant voters of Baramulla parliamentary constituency at upper Trilokpuri here on Sunday afternoon.
Gupta said the endeavours of the government led by chief minister Omar Abdullah had succeeded in restoring peace in the Valley. He decried elements inimical to peace for vitiating the atmosphere by indulging in rhetoric and inciting passions.
Speaking on the occasion, member legislative council Vijay Bakaya said the electors would make best use of their right of franchise and elect the candidates who would project their urges and aspirations in the highest democratic forum of the country. He said strong political edifice was imperative for satiating the urges of the people, especially those in distress.
Bakaya referred to the problems faced by the people in various camps and outside and said the government was doing everything possible to mitigate these on priority. He lauded the people for their resilience in facing the difficulties over the years with fortitude and courage, saying that Omar-led government is committed to ensure better life for them.
Bakaya and Gupta urged the people to vote for Sharief-ud-Din Shariq, saying this will support the progressive policies of the NC, which has always strived for amity and tranquility between various segments of the society.
