'NCP and Cong should share equal number of seats'

india Updated: Jan 18, 2009 18:25 IST

NCP leader and Union Minister for Civil Aviation Praful Patel on Sunday said Congress and NCP should share equal number of seats in Lok Sabha elections after four seats are given to RPI and one to Samajwadi Party.

"I would say that Congress and NCP should give four seats to various factions of RPI and one seat to Samajwadi Party and share remaining seats among them in equal number," Patel told PTI at Sakoli during a programme held by a women's self help group.

Some RPI factions are with Congress while some support NCP and they can be given a share of seats, he said adding that since Samajwadi party is also a like minded party, it can also be offered one seat.

During last assembly elections, NCP had good share as compared to Congress, but the latter was given the chance to select the chief minister, Patel said.
