india Updated: Jun 07, 2009 14:10 IST

Minor incidents of violence were reported from Osmanabad, the Lok Sabha constituency of NCP leader Padamsinh Patil, after he was arrested by CBI here in connection with Pawanraje Nimbalkar murder case.

Patil's supporters indulged in stone-pelting at some places in Osmanabad, Marathwada region, as the news of his arrest came in, police sources said.

A van belonging to a private news channel was damaged, but there was no any information as to whether anyone was injured, the sources added.

The former Maharashtra Minister will be shortly produced in a court in Panvel, about 60 kms from here, by CBI.

Nimbalkar and his driver were shot dead in a car on June 3, 2006 at Kalamboli in Navi Mumbai near here.

Patil's suspected involvement in the case was revealed after one of the arrested accused, Parasmal Jain, said in his statement that he was asked by the NCP leader to eliminate Nimbalkar due to business rivalry.
