NCP legislator Sanjay Patil resigned as member of the state legislative council on Tuesday to join the BJP.

Sanjay Patil, a bête noire of Home Minister R R Patil, is likely to be fielded as a candidate by the BJP in Sangli Lok Sabha constituency opposite union minister of state for coal Pratil Patil.

The infighting in local leadership in Sangali led to Sanjay Patil parting ways as he was upset with Home Minister R R Patil. Sanjay had alleged that RR Patil had always tried to suppress him and it was hampering his prospects in politics.

BJP is likely to field him as its LS candidate from Sangali against union minister of state Pratik Patil. BJP leader Gopinath Munde claimed that there few more NCP leaders likely to join his party.
