The BJP-led NDA has been getting partners everyday, while the Congress-led UPA losing allies each passing day, BJP Rajya Sabha member Chandan Mitra said on Sunday.
“The UPA is disintegrating while the NDA has added in its fold the Rastriya Lok Dal, Indian National Lok Dal, Asom Gana Parishad, Akali Dal, besides the Janata Dal(U) and Shiv Sena. This reflects the NDA’s march towards formation of government,” Mitra told a news conference in Ranchi.
Besides, Mitra said both Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi had been criticising their allies, including NCP leader Sharad Pawar, terming them as “power-hungry”.
Replying to a query, Mitra said neither Congress nor BJP could muster the magic figure on their own and had to depend on allies.
Raising the “bitter” break-up of BJP-BJD alliance, Mitra said Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had never mentioned the Kandhamal issue during their seat-sharing dialogue.
