Grammy Award winning Canadian artiste Nelly Furtado, who is fascinated by India's diverse and rich heritage, will perform at a New Year gala night in Mumbai.

Nelly will be in India to participate in a Nokia New Year's Eve party, which is a global event and will be held across five 'party capitals' of the world - Hong Kong's Ocean Terminal, Mumbai's Andheri Stadium, the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, Ipanema Beach in Rio de Janeiro and New York, says hollywood.tv

"India holds a special place in my heart and I am fascinated by the country's diversity and rich heritage," Nelly commented on her first live performance in India.

"I am delighted with this opportunity to perform in Mumbai and look forward to giving my fans an evening full of great music and unforgettable experience."

Nelly will perform on the songs from her latest album Loose in Mumbai.

Canadian band Josh Desi, which remixed Furtado's "Powerless", will also perform as a part of the concert.

It is a global music event to be held across five 'party capitals' of the world - Hong Kong's Ocean Terminal, Mumbai's Andheri Stadium, the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, Ipanema Beach in Rio de Janeiro and New York.

About 1.3 million people are expected to attend the five events and an estimated 150 million global television viewers and Internet audience will watch the event.
