The Haryana Roadways has entered into an agreement with a private company to make the design of the proposed state-of-the-art bus terminal in sector 29 near HUDA City Centre Metro station. This facility would be equipped with facilities that are generally available at airports.
The bus terminal to come up in an area of three acres will be unique and house around 500 buses. It is expected to come up in the next one and a half years time, will also have a shopping mall, multiplex and a rest house in the complex.
As of now, anyone who comes to Gurgaon from other districts need to travel to New Gurgaon for entertainment and recreational activities. But with the new bus stand coming up, all source of entertainment including movie and shopping will be made available, under one roof.
A senior Haryana Roadways official: “The land has been bought at a cost of R29 crore. The contract of building the bus stand has been given to a private company. We will start the construction as soon as the design is ready.”
The buses catering to the intra city service would ply from the proposed stand. If all goes as per the plan, Gurgaon residents would be able to commute to Farruukh Nagar, Manesar, Badshahpur, Pataudi and Sohna.
“The idea is to develop bus terminals in Gurgaon to suit the very profile of the people living here. The city has a number of MNCs and the people employed with these companies need world class facilities. The future bus terminals would be air conditioned and have all the facilities the airport offer to its passengers,” the officials said.
