THE ONGOING tug-of-war between two groups of bureaucrats trying the get hold of the prestigious Golf Club of Lucknow took a new turn when Shyam Narain Yadav, deputy registrar, firms, societies and chits, today announced the schedule for fresh election to the Golf Club Management Committee on the basis of an interim order of the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court that has reportedly held the last election of the club null and void.
However, there is complete confusion over the announcement of the fresh election by the deputy registrar on the basis of an order of the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court dated September 27, 2006, because the same order was later ‘recalled’ by the judge on the request of one of the two parties engaged in legal battle over the Golf Club dispute.
How can the deputy registrar pass an order depending on the High Court order which was later recalled by the judge, asked both the parties fighting the legal battle.
However, Chakrapani, registrar, firms, societies and chits, expressed ignorance about the fact that the judge had recalled his order and said that the schedule for fresh election to the Golf Club Management Committee was announced on the basis of a ‘report’ sent to him by a government standing counsel informing about the High Court order of September 27 and in which there was no mention of the fact that the same order was later recalled by the judge.
According to the election schedule, nominations would be filed and scrutinised on November 6 between 11 am and 4 pm while the last date of withdrawal of nomination was November 7.
Election, if needed, will be held on November 14 and results will be announced the same evening.
