After the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC), two more central commissions — the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the National Commission for Women (NCW) — have cornered the state government on the alleged Bhatta rapes, of which the government has repeatedly denied charges.

The NCW has said that the policemen at Bhatta and Parsaul villages raped women during protests against land acquisition in May.

A final report in this regard has been submitted to the Ministry of Women and Child Development. The commission suggested, “A CBI probe should be ordered into the atrocities.”

Meanwhile, the NHRC has sent notices to the Uttar Pradesh DGP and SSP of Gautam Budh Nagar, after 15 women alleged teams of UP police, not comprising women cops, were still visiting Bhatta-Parsaul at night and terrorising the farmers, including women.

The NHRC has asked the UP police to reply in four weeks.
