A leader of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, the youth wing of BJP, was arrested from Mhow on Saturday by the National Investigation Agency in connection with the murder of former RSS pracharak Sunil Joshi.
"Jitendra Sharma, vice-president of BJYM Indore district rural Unit, was taken into custody from Mhow this morning by NIA team and after a lengthy interrogation till evening he was arrested," a police officer said in Indore on Saturday.
Joshi, himself a suspect in the Samjhauta Express blast case, was killed at Dewas in December 29, 2007.
Sharma, a lawyer, had represented Lokesh Sharma, an accused in the 2007 Ajmer Dargah bomb blast case, Samjhauta blast case and 2006 Malegaon blast case, in various courts, sources said. Lokesh Sharma too hails from Mhow.
Before this, NIA had arrested Dilip Jagtap from Kishanganj police station area of the district in January in connection with the Joshi murder case.
According to sources, Jitendra Sharma allegedly provided a pistol to Jagtap, which was used to kill Joshi. Jagtap is presently on bail.
NIA had interrogated Jitendra Sharma then also. This had led to a strike by lawyers in Mhow and Indore, who has protested against his "illegal confinement".
