The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday arrested Nurul Hoque alias Naeem, an alleged cadre of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), in connection with its probe into the Burdwan blast case. With Hoque’s arrest, the NIA has arrested 21 accused in the case so far.

“He had been identified as a key co-conspirator and was absconding since the Burdwan blast. A cash reward had been declared for his arrest. Several witnesses as well as interrogation of the arrested JMB cadres had revealed the name of Naeem as a very active member of outfit,” said the NIA in a statement.

Hoque, 26, was arrested from area near Howrah railway station in the afternoon and was being interrogated for his role in the October last year’s Burdwan blasts.

The NIA claimed Hoque was actively involved in local fund collection drive along with Dalim Sheikh. As per the witness accounts, Hoque is a trained member of JMB, having undergone training at Mukimnagar Madarsa in Murshidabad and Shimulia Madarsa in Burdwan district, on two occasions at least.
