A SEA of humanity gathered at Eintkhedi on the second day of Ijtima on Sunday to listen to the discourses of eminent Islamic scholars from all over the country.
From morning itself vehicles packed with devotees were heading towards the venue. By afternoon, the entire Eintkhedi was teeming with devotees numbering several lakhs.
Maulana Sa’ad read out the ‘khutbah’ in the afternoon and nearly 200 ‘nikaahs’ were solemnised. Earlier, Maulana Ismail and Zahuruddin Mewati gave discourses.
Shops selling Islamic literature are doing brisk business. Eateries have been set up at the venue by various organisations that provide full meal at just Rs 15 to the participants.
Owing to Sunday, tens of thousands of devotees reached the Ijtima today and the gathering was swelling till late Sunday night. Thousands of participants have come all parts of the country and even abroad. The deputy speaker of Delhi Assembly Shoaib Iqbal is also attending the three-day event.
The third and final day will witness the biggest gathering owing to ‘duaa’ for universal peace. The ‘jamaats’ were constituted in the night. The ‘jamaats’ would later go to surrounding areas for preaching.
Elderly man dies in Ijtima
AN ELDERLY man from Andhra Pradesh died during the Alamai Tablighi Ijtima on Saturday. Syed Khwaja, 66, a resident of Kotapetha in Karnool district, had come to the Ijtima with his son. He complained of chest pain and died all of a sudden. It was a natural death, police officials said.
