Nine gas cylinders explode in Pune

Panic gripped Pune following a series of gas cylinder explosions at a makeshift store house in the city. However, there was no report of any casualty.

Panic gripped Pune following a series of gas cylinder explosions at a makeshift store house in the city. However, there was no report of any casualty.

The incident happened late last night at Sahakar Nagar area of the city. A caterer was had kept the cylinders was arrested for negligence and illegal storage of essential commodities, police said.

There were 15 cylinders at the time of explosions resulting in a big fire. Out of the 15 cylinders, nine went up in flames with a loud sound that caused a wide scare among people who mistook them for bomb blasts, they said.

The tension was eased after the police control room clarified the nature of the blasts.
