Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has invited former President APJ Abdul Kalam for lunch on Friday.
APJ Abdul Kalam, who has been backed by Trinamool Congress and Samajwadi Party for Presidential race, arrived in Patna on Thursday on a scheduled visit and was welcomed by Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar at the airport.
Kumar's receiving Kalam at the airport assumes significance in the backdrop of TMC and SP rooting for his candidature for the post of President.
Kalam will attend two separate functions in the city on Friday.
Meanwhile, the NDA is also set to meet at 11am at senior leader LK Advani's residence to discuss the situation. The BJP has, however, said that it was waiting for the UPA to come out with a nominee first.
While clamour grew for Abdul Kalam and Pranad Mukherjee, the BJD maintained that its choice for the President's post remained NCP leader PA Sangma.
With many names in the contest, the race still remains complicated. Therefore, all eyes will be on the NDA and the UPA meets to see whether the two come up with two clear candidates for the President's post.
