The Indian Air Force on Monday said there were no Chinese parts in some display units onboard its C-130J Super Hercules planes. A probe carried out by the US Senate armed forces committee in 2011-12 had found that counterfeit parts supplied by a Chinese firm were used in C-130J planes.

“We had checked with the US if our planes had any suspect Chinese parts. They carried out checks and all parts were found to be genuine,” an IAF official said, debunking reports in a section of the media that had obliquely linked the crash to fake Chinese parts.

Five crew members were killed when a C-130J mysteriously crashed near Gwalior on March 28, the second fatal mishap involving the plane.

The IAF had sent serial numbers of various display units installed in C-130J planes to the US for verification two years ago and these were cleared by the authorities there. Defence minister AK Antony had told Parliament in December 2012 that the IAF had not found any faulty parts in US-supplied military equipment.
