No dynastic politics in party polls, promises Rahul Gandhi

Admitting that he was in politics because he belonged to the Gandhi family, Rahul Gandhi today said holding of organisational polls would remove the impression of dynastic politics.

"We have to change this picture (of dynastic politics). That is why organisational elections are being conducted. There will be no dynastic politics in this process," he said.

The Congress General Secretary, who was interacting with around 700 scheduled caste students here, admitted that he was in politics "because I am a member of the Gandhi family."

A student from Beed district drew his attention to the NSUI elections in that district and said some members who were not students were enrolled and contested the polls. This came to light through an RTI query, Rahul was informed.

Pat came the reply from Rahul, who said, "We will take care to ensure that such incidents will not happen in future."

Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, MPCC President Manikrao Thakre and Youth Congress President Rajiv Satav attended the meeting.
