The joint statement talks about greater synergy in views between the two nations on Afghanistan and greater connectivity among Bangladesh China, India regional forum.

The joint statement, like the one issued in December 2010, didn’t mention India’s affirmation of One-China policy which states that Tibet and Taiwan are integral parts of China.

China’s all-weather relation with Pakistan and funding for infrastructure projects in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir have remained a matter of significant unease.

Similarly, China was wary of India’s ties with US, especially New Delhi being part of the US strategy in Asia Pacific aimed at containing China. China has also been wary of India’s ties with South east Asian nations such as Vietnam, with which China has a territorial dispute in the South China sea. “The two sides are committed to taking positive view and support of each other’s friendship with other countries,” the joint statement said.

The same paragraph in the statement also said, “India and China will not allow their territories to be used for activities against each other.”

This reflects Indian position that it will not allow Dalai Lama and the Tibetans to use Indian territory for anti China activities.
