No force can prevent separate Tamil Eelam: Nedumaran

Tamil Nationalist Movement (TNM) leader P Nedumaran has said no force can prevent separate Tamil Eelam blossoming in Sri Lanka under the leadership of LTTE chief V Prabhakaran.

Addressing an Eelam Tamils Protection rally organised by the MDMK here on Friday night, he said the recent meeting MDMK leader Vaiko had with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had provided hope for suffering Eelam Tamils, facing a battle between life and death.

Vaiko, by raising the Tamils' issue with the PM, staged a demonstration before the Sri Lankan High Commission in New Delhi had done his duty not as a partyman but as a representative of Tamils.

"At a time when the Eelam Tamils were facing a battle of life and death, every Tamil in the world should stand by them in this hour of crisis and express their solidarity," Nedumaran, who was detained under the now-repealed POTA for his pro-LTTE speeches in 2002, said.

Condemning the arrest of MDMK functionary Manimaran for speeches in support of the Tamils, he said this was not the time for DMK President and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to settle personal scores (with Vaiko).

"While talking of ending fratricidal wars in Sri Lanka to arrive at an amicable solution to the ethnic crisis, is the arrest of Manimaran an act of ending such wars?" he asked and sought his immediate release.

The Chief Minister was misleading the people by arresting Manimaran, he further charged.

The TNM leader said it was time for all Tamils, irrespective of party affiliations, to voice their support for the Tamils.
