Seeking to counter the Congress campaign to promote young leaders like Rahul Gandhi, BJP today charged the ruling party with promoting the politics of dynasty under which there is no future for an ordinary worker.
"Go tell it to the youngsters that they have a future only with the BJP while in Congress the leadership is based on the family legacy and appointments to the party positions are based on compassionate grounds," party leader Sushma Swaraj said.
Addressing the National Council meeting here, the former Delhi chief minister compared young leaders in Congress by name with those in BJP in a bid to prove her point.
"Let us compare their young leaders, Rahul Gandhi, son of late Rajiv Gandhi, Jyotiraditya Scindia, son of Madhavrao Scindia...Jatin Prasad, Sachin Pilot, Priya Dutt. Now look at our leadership...Are they here due to their families," she said while taking the names of BJP leaders including L K Advani, Rajnath Singh, Venkaiah Naidu, Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi among others.
"Our leaders are here as a result of their hard work and dedication and not on compassionate grounds," she added.
Swaraj, however, cautioned partymen against infighting and called for unity in ranks in the run-up to the polls.
