The Centre was committed to implementing 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in higher educational institutions like IITs and IIMs in the country, chairman of the Oversight Committee on implementing OBC quota Veerappa Moily said on Sunday.

In a brief chat with newspersons at the airport, he said the UPA government was totally committed to it. "There was no question of the government going back on the issue".

The expert committee is yet to submit the final report. "Once the report is received, the Oversight Committee will meet and hold consultations with the various expert committees before submitting it to the goverment by the end of this month," he added.

Moily was in Chennai to call on Congress MP Dhanushkodi Adithan at the Apollo Hospitals in Chennai. Adithan had suffered multiple fractures in an accident at Tuticorin and his right arm was amputated.
